Biography
Alexandre Lessertisseur is a French musician and composer. He has been composing for fiction films for about a decade as well as for theater.
LUCHON 2023 • In the realm of television films, he won the Best Music Award at the Luchon 2023 festival for “LE HORLA” (Arte), a fiction loosely inspired by Maupassant’s fantastic short story, directed by Marion Desseigne Ravel.
YOUTH • In 2022, he composed the music for the fantasy series “THEODOSIA” (HBO Max, Cottonwood Media), which won the fiction series award at the Luchon Youth Screen Festival. In 2019, he composed the music for the Chinese animated film “RETURN” produced by ORI Animation.
His music for the Russian animated film “SHEEP AND WOLVES,” in French “GRIS, LE (PAS SI) GRAND MÉCHANT LOUP” (Wizart Animation, official selection for Feature Films at Annecy), was nominated for the Jerry Goldsmith Awards in the Best Feature Film Music category in 2016.
AWARD-WINNING SERIES • Alexandre Lessertisseur worked with Oscar-winning director Jean-Xavier de Lestrade on “MANON 20 ANS” (Arte): a series that won multiple awards at the Luchon TV Festival in 2017, the year he won the Best Music Award. For director Laurent Herbiet, he composed the music for “GLACÉ” (M6), which was voted Best Series at the La Rochelle Festival in 2016.
With these same directors, he created the music for the series “MALATERRA” (F2, with an average of 3.7 million viewers).
CRIME DRAMAS • He composes for Delphine Lemoine the music for several crime dramas in the collections “CRIMES PARFAITS” (F3) and “MEURTRES A” (F3), as well as for the TV film “L’HERITAGE” (F3) by Laurent Dussaux (3.8 million viewers on its first broadcast).
In tandem with R. Jericho, he worked on several projects by director Christophe Lamotte: “UNE AFFAIRE FRANÇAISE” (TF1, averaging 3 million viewers), “LA PART DU SOUPÇON” (TF1, averaging 5 million viewers), “LE JOUR OÙ J’AI BRULÉ MON COEUR” (TF1, averaging 6 million viewers) and “LES SECRETS” (F3, averaging 3 million viewers).
DOCUMENTARIES • Alexandre Lessertisseur also creates music for documentaries: “JACQUES DERAY” (F5), “DANS L’OMBRE D’HITCHCOCK” (Arte), “FAUT PAS RÊVER” (F3), “DES RACINES ET DES AILES” (F3), “DOC DE CHOCS” (M6), “SANS AUCUN DOUTE” (TF1).
THEATER • Since “VIRAGES” at the Studio des Champs-Elysées in 2001 directed by Daniel Roussel, he has composed music for several plays, including “UNE JOURNÉE ORDINAIRE” with Alain Delon, and “PARCE QUE JE LA VOLE BIEN” by Laurent Ruquier (directed by Jean-Luc Moreau). He also composes music and soundtracks for “BRONX” with director Steve Suissa, for “LE JOURNAL D’ANNE FRANCK” and “THE GUITRY’S” by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, “A TORT ET A RAISON” by Ronald Harwood, and “L’AFFRONTEMENT” by Bill C. Davis.
MUSICAL JOURNEY • After studying at the Atla music school, Alexandre Lessertisseur founded the electro-rock project BACKSTAB, with which he performed concerts in France and Europe. The group won the Grand Jury Prize at Zeb’Rock in 2001, then the Audience and Jury Prize at the Chorus des Hauts de Seine in 2002.
OTHER WORKS • He worked for a time in Los Angeles for William Ross, Musical Director of the OSCARS 2013 and 2014. He also composes songs with R. Jericho for Gregory Lemarchal (winner of the 2004 Star Academy France), Nu Pagadi (winner of the 2005 Pop Star Germany), and Marc-André Niquet (finalist of the 2005 Star Academy Canada), to name a few.
For the cinema, he composed music for “JEAN-PHILIPPE,” a comedy directed by Laurent Tuel (2006), and for Frédéric Andréi’s first film “SINISTRES SOURIS” (2004). For short films, notable works include “JOURS INTRANQUILLES” directed by Latifa Said (Grand Prix and Music Award at SIRAR), “MAX N’A PAS PEUR” directed by Thomas Gayrard, and “ALICE” directed by Grégoire Sivan.
